This is the type of interpretation most frequently used nowadays. The spoken word is translated as it is spoken - i.e. simultaneously - into any number of other languages. This calls for enormous concentration from interpreters. For that reason interpreters hand over to a colleague every 20 to 30 minutes.
Participants attending the event can select a language channel on their receiver set. The biggest advantage of simultaneous interpretation is that it does not delay proceedings.
